SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2006--Health Enhancement Products Inc., (OTCBB:HEPI - News) announced today that the HIV clinical trials for HEPI's ProAlgaZyme product, recently approved to be conducted in Cameroon, commenced on Friday, May 19, 2006. The trial will explore ProAlgaZyme's (PAZ) potential to reduce viral loads in patients with HIV. The trial calls for 70 participants and is expected to be completed in 60 days. An additional study to investigate PAZ's potential effects on C-Reactive Protein (CRP) levels and the inflammation process have also begun. The double blind CRP study calls for 40 participants and should also be completed in 60 days. Both studies are being conducted by Dr. Julius E. Oben, head of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Yaounde in Cameroon and have been approved by the University Teaching Hospital Review Board, the Cameroon National Ethics Committee, and the Cameroon Ministry of Health.
